Interesting facts about All Saints cemetery:
All Saints cemetery still has some original wooden grave surrounds, and is one of the few cemeteries left in the country with this feature.
The destitute, lunatics and orphans of Parramatta are buried here with hundreds of graves unmarked.
All Saints cemetery is also home to the grave of Gregory Blaxland, the explorer who is famous for being the first to find a way through the Blue Mountains. He was accompanied on this expedition by William Lawson and William Charles Wentworth. Their successful passing through the Blue Mountains opened up inland NSW.
‘The Journal of Gregory Blaxland, 1813’ can be found here.
